Bachus Announces Grant for Study on Corridor X

WASHINGTON-Congressman Spence Bachus is pleased to announce that a grant for $89,415 has been approved for the Birmingham Regional Planning Commission. The funds from the special projects grant will be used by the Planning Commission to do an economic planning development study for the area known as Corridor X. "These funds will allow us to best take advantage of a fairly undeveloped area that will undoubtedly experience major growth once Corridor X is finished" , Bachus said.

The strategy and planning will cover an area 5 miles wide that will run from Birmingham to the Alabama border along Corridor X. The intent is to study how to best take advantage of the new highway from an economic development standpoint.

Proper planning will ensure that the area along Corridor X will be used to its maximum potential. Providing opportunities for economic growth will create more jobs and bring additional investment in Alabama , Bachus said. My goal is to ensure that Birmingham is a major player in the 21st century. Corridor X will be a major tool in doing so.
